About Three Hills Optometry
Dr. Murphy was approached by the town of Three Hills in 1981 to provide eyecare services to their community. Three Hills is located 150km NE of Calgary. The town has a population of just over 3000, with a drawing area of 15,000. The area has excellent farm land and the town in noted for the Prairie Bible College which has many international students including those from the United States and the Orient. The initial three years in servicing the area involved sharing the office of a local family physician. One exam room was modified to include a permanent refracting lane to provide comprehensive eye examinations. Another area was designated for spectacle dispensing and contact lens services. In 1984, an independent office was established for the Three Hills Optometry clinic. One renovation and expansion has since been done to include two examination rooms, a full dispensary and contact lens centre.
